Kiss Me I’m Irish

Monday, November 12th, 2012

Being Irish myself, I have friendships from early childhood and today with Irish heritage along with my family of course. Some of my family have had the privilege of traveling to Ireland together. The Claddagh Ireland’s cherished symbol is worn by millions in Ireland and around the world. Throughout each varying symbolism, a single theme shines through, specifically that the ring symbolizes the trinity of “Love, Loyalty, and Friendship”. Many couples choose the Claddagh as wedding rings. Personally, I feel the meaning of wedding rings are often over looked. Focusing more on the size of the stone, style and cost. Forgetting the circle represents the unity of two people coming together as one.

The Magical Legend Of The Leprechaun

As part of Irish mythology you may end up being the luckiest person alive if you ever manage to catch a Leprechaun but there again it could bring more than enough trouble for what its worth. They are very smartly dressed in small suites with waist coats, hats and buckled shoes. As mischievous and intelligent folk they are generally harmless to the population in Ireland, but Leprechaun’s are smart, devious little things  known for playing tricks. It is not an easy task to catch a leprechaun as they remain very well hidden from us humans, after all they are the “luck of the Irish”!

It is said that every Leprechaun has a pot of gold, hidden deep in the Irish countryside. . To protect the leprechaun’s pot of gold the Irish fairies gave them magical powers to use if ever captured by a human or animal. Such magic if capture would be to grant three wishes or vanish into thin air. Leprechauns are also very keen musicians who play various Irish traditional instruments such as tin whistles, fiddle and the harp. They are known to have wild music sessions at night with hundreds of Irish leprechauns gathering to dance, sing and drink. The leprechaun is fond of drinking moonshine, who love to cause chaos around Ireland at night time!

Of course our family has been following the fighting Irish for as long as I can remember. When I was a youngster my parents took us on many family vacations and one happened to be visiting the University of Notre Dame Campus in Indiana. It was a wish my father had that one of us would go to a Catholic college, especially there. As close as we came to that was my brother going to O’Dea Catholic High School in Seattle, WA and I attended John F Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien, WA

I will close with the best story of all. My Grandmother on my Dad’s side of the family was on her death bed in the hospital. When I went in to visit her for the last time she was at peace, she was ready to go home, but she still had the Fighting Irish football game on!

Name Tattoo’s…

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

One day I thought it was a great idea to tattoo my husbands name on my hip. He is a ex-husband now and it’s a black panther! I would really not recommend it if you are girlfriend and boyfriend, especially if you are young. A tattoo artist I went to would not do name tattoo’s at all. On the other hand, it might have been a great way to get repeat customers when they want it covered up.

Today couples don’t seem to stay together for long periods of time.  At first I noticed them primarily on the neck, forearms and chest. Not any longer, people are putting them everywhere. Some are really big and if things change what do you do with it? Some can’t be covered up because of size or style, not to mention costly to fix or be removed. Personally, if I was dating or remarried some day I would not like staring at another girls name every day. It defiantly would get under my skin! What do you all think ?

Tattooed Basketball Players

Monday, October 15th, 2012

Tattooed athletes are HOT! They weren’t popular when I was growing up that’s for sure. I grew up in a sports household. Basketball was number one overall. My brother played basketball all through grade school and everyday after in the neighborhood. I know we played a lot of horse, pig and around the world. I loved the corner shot, when I was hot it was nothing but net! I was a terrible dribbler, I always double dribbled or was called for walking, lol. My layup wasn’t very good either now that I think about it, I was all about shooting outside the key. My other favorite was the fade away jump shot. For being in elementary school I thought I was pretty cool when those shots were falling.

On Sundays as a family we often went to see The Seattle Super Sonics at the Coliseum. I have wonderful memories of so many sporting events growing up. Whether it was CYO, Little league or Professional sports, watching or playing I loved it all and still do. I knew the players and teams, we had pennants, buttons and posters. It was so much fun, thanks Dad <3

I’m in the mood for a new tattoo.

Monday, October 8th, 2012

I want to design a tattoo based around “PASSION”. I think passion is such a powerful word. I find it hard to embrace something completely without it. I feel passion is missing in a lot of aspects in life. My life for many years was crazy busy. Long work days, single mom, racing from one thing to the next always feeling like I was one step behind, even when I thought I was somewhat organized.

Today I live a very simple life, not to be misconstrued as plain or boring, more selective I would say. I actually pay attention to what’s going on around me, what I like and what I don’t want to be. I see so many people living on this instant self gratification that society and the media is cramming down everyone’s throat. I believe if you stay on your own path and not be a follower you become stronger, more confident and accepting of you. No one can make you happy except yourself. So a new tattoo straight from the heart it will be!

Is a tattoo right for you?

Friday, October 5th, 2012

A tattoo in my opinion is all about you. Do you question whether you should or shouldn’t get one? A tattoo does not label oneself. It doesn’t matter if you are a high ranking corporate official, a school teacher, mother, banker, gardener etc.  It is a personal choice bottom line. Tattoo’s can be expressed in one simple symbol, or a body canvas. There are no boundaries, some see tattoo’s as an art form, a way to express ones heritage, and others just for fun. In my experience, after the first one it is very common to start thinking about the next one. I also made the mistake of not thinking the first one all the way through and was not happy with the end result, so don’t make that mistake. It is my suggestion to choose wisely, don’t just pick one so you can say, “look I got a tattoo”. I can pretty much guarantee you will not like it down the road. Placement is also another key factor to think about. Do you want to share it or keep it private.

So is a tattoo right for you? Only you know the answer to that and most likely you already do.

Semi Permanent Tattoos

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

A great way to decide if you want a tattoo permanently is to get a temporary tattoo. A step further is to get a semi permanent tattoo. These type of tattoos are supposed to last anywhere from six months to 5 years. That way someone does not have to have the tattoo surgically removed. Sounds like a good idea especially for the 18 year old who is getting a tattoo just because they are 18 and they can do it.

There is debate about semi permanent tattoos however. Do they actually disappear over time or just fade.  The reading I have done tells me that any ink put under your skin is not temporary, parts of it may fade but then you are left with a blotchy tattoo. There are a few alternatives to permanent tattoos however, henna, mehndi, and stick on tattoos, some of the stick on tats are very nice and can last for about a week.

It will be great when the semi permanent tattoo is perfected and people can have the best of both worlds.

Regrets

Friday, March 30th, 2012

I get asked every once in awhile by my children, “Mommy what is that?” The question is in reference to a tattoo. I have to explain to them what that tattoo is. Then they ask, “Why did you do that?” So I tell them, well I wanted it when I was 18, now being older, I would not choose to put that there. “Oh” they say.

How do you explain to your children so they understand that what you know you want when you are 18 is not at all what you usually want when you are a few years older. I can’t think of a way because at 18 kids know exactly what they want and need, I was so naive then, and so are many 18 year olds. I hope mine are smarter but as they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. So if they don’t listen to my advice about it I guess they will most likely pass the same advice on to their own children, who won’t listen either.

Permanent Eye Liner

Thursday, March 15th, 2012

I get so tired of applying eye liner every day. I really like to wear it, it gives that pop to my eyes. I dread applying it. Mornings I have to get the children off to school then myself to work so it is always a rush around my house. Applying eye liner takes time, you can’t rush that part of make-up like you can applying mineral base and other types of make up. I have been finding myself skipping the eyeliner some days to save time even though it really stands out and I love the look.

Enter permanent eye liner. This is now what I am considering. I see many advantages like, it’s done, always there when you wake up, VOILA! What a time saver. However another part of me says, what if the technician messes it up and I have crooked permanent eye liner forever. What if I choose the trusty dark brown shade I have been wearing for 10 years for permanent then decide I would rather have light brown. What if I go blind because the tool goes nuts and stabs out my eye.

However after reviewing many cases of individuals who have had Permanent makeup and talking to a couple friends and family members I think that is the way to go.

Leg & Body Tattoo Primer Light/Medium

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

This product is great if you want to “hide” your tattoo. Not sure why you would, but I guess if you “need” too, this product will help you hide your ink. This can also be used on the body. It says it can be used on the legs to make you look tanner. I think it would be great for me because I am very light. This would be great to look more tan. My legs are so white! I loved to try it out and see if it works!
